A Book a Month: 2017

I have set out with a personal goal of reading a book a month for the year of 2017. For those of you who know me, you know that this is a challenging task for me. I’m not much of a reader. This is not an effort to change to become more of a reader. This is an exercise in discipline and personal development. I haven’t really decided all the books I’m going to read, but I have a few that I’ve always wanted to read that I never did.

As I read them, I’ll do my best to offer a brief review of my thoughts on the book. Writing a review will be the more difficult part in my opinion. I was never good at giving summaries of things that I’ve read. Not because I didn’t comprehend what I read, but I didn’t know how to articulate my thoughts on what I’d read.

If you would like to read along, feel free. I’ve conveniently linked each of the books to Amazon if you want to buy it. I’ll do my best to announce the next month’s book before the end of the current month. Then on the 1st of the next month I will begin reading. This is not a race to get it done early in the month, just sometime before the month is up.

This should be interesting.

[Update 06.04.2018] – The final list has been updated. It turns out I only completed 5 books. Not bad, but not great either. Although, it is more books I’ve read in a year in years.

[Update 01.31.2017] – “The Stand” by Stephen King was added to the list.
